Generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) is in its infant age and Microsoft is one of the big players in the segment following its stake in ChatGPT and Copilot. Lately, it is learned to be rolling out new AI-powered features to its Microsoft 365 service too and it is basically aimed at improving productivity as well as simplifying tasks for users. The new AI assistant in Office apps for Microsoft 365 subscribers is to introduce auto-completion and rewriting capabilities. This will enhance prompt creation and interaction as well.

It is said that the new auto-complete feature will suggest improvements when users start typing prompts. This will offer options to summarize emails or perform related tasks based on Office data. If you type “summarize,” it will summarize the last 10 unread emails in the inbox.

Moreover, Microsoft is also introducing an “elaborate your prompt” feature. This will rewrite prompts to provide more detailed actions. This will simultaneously ensure users to get the most out of their prompts.

Microsoft Corporate Vice-President of AI at work, Jared Spataro, revealed upcoming features in a recent blog post. He emphasized on how Copilot will empower users to engineer effective prompts effortlessly.

Another key rollout is the “Catch Up” chat interface in Copilot. This will display upcoming meetings and relevant documents to help users prepare efficiently.

Microsoft will also allow subscribers to create, publish and manage prompts in Copilot Lab. This will enable tailored prompts for individual teams within businesses. As an aftermath, this will facilitate seamless sharing of useful prompts among colleagues.

The blog post coincides with the company’s annual Work Trend Index report that is jointly developed by LinkedIn. It mainly focuses on the role of AI in workplace and based on extensive surveys and data analysis. It highlights the increasing adoption of AI tools by employees.
